Quran’s Inspiration
The humanity should have been the champions of science and research if they
truly dived deep in Quraan the holy book.
This was achieved temporarily during the golden age. If the intellectuals and the scientist study and apply the laws in Quranic and spread the research and science. Today the issue of failure and down fall of the communities will come to an end.
Our call to one and all to dive into the deep knowledge of sciences and the best way of fife for each and every human spirit.
Mathematics
INDEED, WE HAVE CREATED EVERYTHING, PERFECTLY MEASURED (QURAN 54:49)
This verse
clearly states the creation is based on precise measurements. This verse
indicates the mathematical
construct of creation. Galileo expressed the gest of this verse perfectly when
he said, “Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe”.
Take for example the branch of
statistics. How wonderfully it works on data. This is a clear evidence of how
God has created everything
on mathematical measurement.
Archeology, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology
SAY, [O MUHAMMAD], “TRAVEL THROUGH THE LAND AND OBSERVE HOW WAS THE END OF THOSE BEFORE. MOST OF THEM WERE ASSOCIATORS [OF
OTHERS WITH ALLAH]. (QURAN 30:42)
God is literally
asking people, especially the believers, to go and discover ancient past civilizations and how they perished for their sins.
This encourages research into archeology and anthropology.
INDEED, WE HAVE DIGNIFIED
THE CHILDREN OF ADAM, CARRIED
THEM ON LAND AND SEA, GRANTED THEM GOOD AND LAWFUL PROVISIONS, AND PRIVILEGED THEM FAR ABOVE MANY OF OUR CREATURES. (QURAN 17:70)
This verse is
literally a proof of human migration throughout history and indication of the
need to study human migration since
the dawn of man. This verse also proves man is not the best of creation and also at the same time
indicates the existence of creatures greater and more privileged than man. Could we call
those creatures alien?
HUMANITY HAD ONCE BEEN ONE COMMUNITY. THEN ALLAH
RAISED PROPHETS AS DELIVERERS OF GOOD NEWS AND AS WARNERS, AND REVEALED TO THEM THE SCRIPTURES IN TRUTH TO JUDGE AMONG PEOPLE REGARDING
THEIR DISPUTES. AND NO ONE DISPUTED THE SCRIPTURES EXCEPT THE VERY PEOPLE WHO RECEIVED THEM
AFTER CLEAR PROOFS HAD COME TO
THEM—OUT OF JEALOUSY. THEN ALLAH, BY HIS GRACE, HAS GUIDED THE BELIEVERS
TO THE TRUTH REGARDING THOSE DISPUTES. AND ALLAH GUIDES WHOEVER HE WILLS TO THE STRAIGHT PATH. (QURAN 2:213)
This verse
includes many disciplines: archeology, anthropology, politics, law, ethics,
history and sociology. This verse
hints humanity in general and Muslims specifically about these varied disciplines to dive into, research
and take guidance.
I WILL CERTAINLY MISLEAD THEM AND DELUDE THEM WITH EMPTY HOPES…(QURAN 4:119)
INDEED, ˹IT IS˺ WE ˹WHO˺ CREATED HUMANKIND AND ˹FULLY˺ KNOW WHAT THEIR SOULS WHISPER TO THEM, AND WE ARE CLOSER TO THEM THAN ˹THEIR˺ JUGULAR VEIN. (QURAN 50:16)
These verses indicate about the activity of the mind i.e. the science of psychology. It suggests that the mind (soul) has inclinations, stimuli and responses. This verse is an indication to the science of psychology.
Governance, Political System, Economy
AND [MENTION, O MUHAMMAD], WHEN ABRAHAM WAS TRIED BY HIS LORD WITH COMMANDS AND HE FULFILLED THEM. [ ALLAH ] SAID, “INDEED, I WILL MAKE YOU A LEADER FOR THE PEOPLE.” [ABRAHAM] SAID, “AND OF MY DESCENDANTS?” [ ALLAH ] SAID, “MY COVENANT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WRONGDOERS.” (QURAN 2:124)
This verse establishes the science of governance and organization. Abraham was the father of theocracy as both prophethood and leadership of people and polity joined in him. Abraham was the religio-political Imam of the people i.e. Muslims and non-Muslims. We are followers of His monotheistic religion and thus we must also have an Islamic political organization, establishment and jurisdiction.
SAY, “O ALLAH , OWNER OF SOVEREIGNTY, YOU GIVE SOVEREIGNTY TO WHOM YOU WILL AND YOU TAKE SOVEREIGNTY AWAY FROM WHOM YOU WILL. YOU HONOR WHOM YOU WILL AND YOU HUMBLE WHOM YOU WILL. IN YOUR HAND IS [ALL] GOOD. INDEED, YOU ARE OVER ALL THINGS COMPETENT. (QURAN 3:26)
In this verse God is indicating the various political systems/systems of governance of how they ascribe power to people. This verse thus not only discusses about the metaphysical perspective but also political.
…SO THAT IT WILL NOT BE A PERPETUAL DISTRIBUTION AMONG THE RICH FROM AMONG YOU…(QURAN 59:7)
THOSE WHO WERE OPPRESSED WILL SAY TO THOSE WHO WERE ARROGANT, “RATHER, [IT WAS YOUR] CONSPIRACY OF NIGHT AND DAY WHEN YOU WERE ORDERING US TO DISBELIEVE IN ALLAH AND ATTRIBUTE TO HIM EQUALS… (QURAN 34:33)
In these verses God is indicating the existence of the dynamics of class conflict and class exploitation which Marx has talked exhaustively about under political economy. The powerful and rich do not need to necessarily directly command disbelief in God but they may also do so
by the system they create and sustain. These verses thus indicative of political science and sociology.
DID THEY NOT SEE THAT ALLAH EXTENDS PROVISION TO WHOMSOEVER HE WILLS, AND STRAITENS (IT FOR WHOMSOEVER HE WILLS)? SURELY IN THIS THERE ARE SIGNS FOR A PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE. (QURAN 30:37)
This verse not only implies God’s direct power over our sustenance but also the logical systems of economies which distribute wealth and sustenance to people. So, this verse also indicates the existence and logic of various economic systems. The will of God is thus also a system of natural justice, laws and logical consequences He has designed. As political systems discuss about power economic systems discuss about wealth distribution and management.
CHARITIES1 EXPENDITURES ARE ONLY FOR THE POOR AND FOR THE NEEDY AND FOR THOSE EMPLOYED TO COLLECT [ZAKAH] AND FOR BRINGING HEARTS TOGETHER [FOR ISLAM] AND FOR FREEING CAPTIVES [OR SLAVES] AND FOR THOSE IN DEBT AND FOR THE CAUSE OF ALLAH AND FOR THE [STRANDED] TRAVELER – AN OBLIGATION [IMPOSED] BY ALLAH . AND ALLAH IS KNOWING AND WISE. (QURAN 9:60)
This verse indicates researching the society and its various economic classes i.e. sociological and socio-economic research. Need drives discovery and invention and vice versa. Quran gives solutions to our needs but in many cases has left onto us how best to achieve such solutions.
This economic welfare solution demands research and establishment of an effective efficient system touching the social sciences so in other words Quran is guiding us to research social sciences to best implement its laws but today almost all Muslim countries except Islamic republic of Iran have abandoned extensive widespread Quranic research.
Law and Ethics
AND WE ORDAINED FOR THEM THEREIN A LIFE FOR A LIFE, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, A NOSE FOR A NOSE, AN EAR FOR AN EAR, A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH, AND FOR WOUNDS IS LEGAL RETRIBUTION. BUT WHOEVER GIVES [UP HIS RIGHT AS] CHARITY, IT IS AN EXPIATION FOR HIM. AND WHOEVER DOES NOT JUDGE BY WHAT ALLAH HAS REVEALED – THEN IT IS THOSE WHO ARE THE WRONGDOERS. (QURAN 5:45)
This verse establishes the legal science of crime and punishment which is the foundation of legal system and law. Every wrong begets a reaction from the law, and this is the principle of law and legal system. Quran thus proposes not only specifics of some laws but also a principle to research further of wrong and punishment. jizya etc.
INDEED, THOSE WHOM THE ANGELS TAKE [IN DEATH] WHILE WRONGING THEMSELVES – [THE ANGELS] WILL SAY, “IN WHAT [CONDITION] WERE YOU?” THEY WILL SAY, “WE WERE OPPRESSED IN THE LAND.” THE ANGELS WILL SAY, “WAS NOT THE EARTH OF ALLAH SPACIOUS [ENOUGH] FOR YOU TO EMIGRATE THEREIN?” FOR THOSE, THEIR REFUGE IS HELL – AND EVIL IT IS AS A DESTINATION. (QURAN 4:97)
Quran has established the principle of asylum seeking before international law. Quran has allowed migration from persecution and also sins. So Quran’s migration policy is based on both persecution of life and livelihood and persecution of religion by which a person fail to live righteously. So Quran here is proposing a system of laws, regulations and principles of human rights which today international law has achieved to some extent. This verse is indicative of legal science (social sciences).
Military, Security and Peace
O MANKIND, INDEED WE HAVE REATED YOU FROM MALE AND FEMALE AND MADE YOU PEOPLES
AND TRIBES THAT YOU MAY KNOW ONE ANOTHER. INDEED, THE MOST NOBLE OF YOU IN THE SIGHT OF ALLAH IS THE MOST RIGHTEOUS1 OF YOU. INDEED, ALLAH IS KNOWING AND AWARE. (QURAN
49:13)
This verse indicates a system of international system
which Muslims should
create, sustain, study
and/or understand.
FIGHT IN THE WAY OF ALLAH THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU BUT DO NOT TRANSGRESS. INDEED. ALLAH
DOES NOT LIKE TRANSGRESSORS. (QURAN
2:190)
AND WHAT IS [THE MATTER] WITH YOU THAT YOU FIGHT NOT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH AND [FOR] THE OPPRESSED AMONG MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN
WHO SAY, “OUR LORD, TAKE US OUT OF THIS CITY OF OPPRESSIVE PEOPLE AND APPOINT
FOR US FROM YOURSELF A PROTECTOR AND APPOINT FOR US
FROM YOURSELF A HELPER?” (QURAN 4:75)
These verses
indicate the balance for humanity’s peace and justice. Two principles Quran propose: defensive and humanitarian war
based on proportionality. Today the field of
international law have established both and the rule of proportionality
establishing humanitarian law. These verses
thus indicate the need for research legal science and human rights.
INDEED, THE PENALTY FOR THOSE WHO WAGE
WAR AGAINST ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER AND STRIVE UPON EARTH [TO
CAUSE] CORRUPTION IS NONE BUT THAT THEY BE KILLED OR CRUCIFIED OR THAT THEIR HANDS AND FEET BE CUT OFF FROM OPPOSITE
SIDES OR THAT THEY
BE EXILED FROM THE
LAND. THAT IS
FOR THEM A
DISGRACE IN THIS
WORLD; AND FOR THEM
IN THE HEREAFTER IS A GREAT PUNISHMENT. EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO RETURN [REPENTING] BEFORE YOU APPREHEND
THEM. AND KNOW THAT ALLAH
IS FORGIVING AND MERCIFUL. (QURAN 5:33-34)
This verse is
indicative of developing security study to understand collective armed
rebellion or wanton death and
destruction through riots and rebellions against peace and against rule based on divine justice and universal
humanity. This verse is indicative of sciences of social psychology, criminology, security, sociology and peace.
AND PREPARE
AGAINST THEM WHATEVER
YOU ARE ABLE OF POWER AND OF STEEDS OF WAR BY WHICH YOU MAY TERRIFY THE ENEMY OF
ALLAH AND YOUR ENEMY AND OTHERS BESIDES THEM WHOM YOU DO NOT KNOW [BUT] WHOM ALLAH KNOWS. AND WHATEVER YOU SPEND
IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH WILL BE FULLY REPAID TO YOU, AND YOU WILL
NOT BE WRONGED.
(QURAN 8:60)
AND WHOEVER TURNS HIS
BACK TO THEM ON SUCH A DAY, UNLESS SWERVING [AS A STRATEGY] FOR WAR OR JOINING [ANOTHER] COMPANY, HAS CERTAINLY
RETURNED WITH ANGER [UPON HIM] FROM ALLAH, AND HIS
REFUGE IS HELL – AND WRETCHED IS THE DESTINATION. (QURAN 8:16)
These two verses
are indicative of military and war study indicating preparation continuously and persistently
against known and unknown threats
as well as war strategies and tactics.
Physics
HE IS THE ONE WHO MADE THE SUN A RADIANT SOURCE AND THE MOON A REFLECTED LIGHT,
WITH PRECISELY ORDAINED
PHASES, SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW THE NUMBER OF YEARS AND CALCULATION ˹OF
TIME˺. ALLAH DID NOT CREATE ALL THIS EXCEPT FOR A
PURPOSE. HE MAKES THE SIGNS CLEAR FOR PEOPLE OF KNOWLEDGE. (QURAN 10:5)
This verse
indicates the aspects of time and season calculations. The Arabic word for a
year “Aam” is meant to be a solar
year, and the Arabic word for a year “Sanah” is meant to be a lunar year.
Such distinction between
the two words in the Holy Qur’an,
the word “Sanah”
and the word “Aam” is very
important in establishing the creation timeline.
DO THE DISBELIEVERS NOT REALIZE THAT THE HEAVENS
AND EARTH WERE ˹ONCE˺ ONE MASS THEN WE SPLIT THEM APART?1 AND WE CREATED FROM
WATER EVERY LIVING THING. WILL THEY NOT THEN BELIEVE? (QURAN
21:30)
WE BUILT THE UNIVERSE WITH ˹GREAT˺ MIGHT,
AND WE ARE CERTAINLY EXPANDING ˹IT˺. (QURAN 51:47)
HE IS THE ONE WHO CREATED EVERYTHING
IN THE EARTH FOR YOU. THEN HE TURNED TOWARDS THE HEAVEN, FORMING IT INTO SEVEN HEAVENS. AND HE
HAS ˹PERFECT˺ KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THINGS. (QURAN
2:29)
THEN HE TURNED
TOWARDS THE HEAVEN
WHEN IT WAS ˹STILL LIKE˺ SMOKE, SAYING TO IT AND TO THE EARTH, ‘SUBMIT,
WILLINGLY OR UNWILLINGLY.’ THEY BOTH RESPONDED,
‘WE SUBMIT WILLINGLY.’ (QURAN 41:11)
These verses
hint about the science of creation and how everything began. It is inspiring us
into the field of astrophysics. Hubble’s law of the expansion of the universe
is an undisputable proof that universe (the first heaven) is
expanding and the earth was created first then the heavens, as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. It
contradicts the common theory that the earth was formed long after the creation of the heavens. The smoke is the
chemical gases as a result of the big bang explosion.
GLORY BE TO THE ONE WHO CREATED
ALL ˹THINGS IN˺ PAIRS—˹BE IT˺ WHAT THE EARTH
PRODUCES, THEIR GENDERS,
OR WHAT THEY DO NOT KNOW!
(QURAN 36:36)
This verse indicates about the science
of Quantum physics. The pair is not necessarily opposites
in gender. It may be opposites in characteristics, in functionality, or
in behavior so for example for each particle of quantum matter,
there is an “anti-particle”, that is an “anti-matter”.
HE
KEEPS THE
SKY FROM FALLING DOWN ON THE EARTH EXCEPT BY HIS PERMISSION. SURELY ALLAH IS EVER GRACIOUS
AND MOST MERCIFUL TO HUMANITY. (QURAN
22:65)
Indicative of the laws of gravitation and much more through the science of astrophysics/astronomy.
WHEN THE SUN WILL BE FOLDED UP, AND WHEN THE STARS WILL SWOOP DOWN, (QURAN 81:1-
2)
